A. Did the advice work? How?

πŸ‘‰ Yes, the advice worked. The old man’s friend told him to only return the money when all three merchants came together. When the two honest merchants and the judge came to him, the old man repeated this condition. The judge agreed that he was right and should not return the money until all three appeared together.

B. Message thanking the friend (Imagine you are the old man):
