f. The writer believes that the pen is mightier than the sword. True

D. What arguments does the speaker make to support her statement ‘The pen is mightier than the sword’? List the main points.

Ans 👉 The speaker argues that although a sword gives power, it can only enslave a person physically, not their mind or heart. She gives examples from history like Alexander the Great, Napoleon, and Hitler, whose power did not last. On the other hand, the works of great writers, poets, and scientists are remembered forever. Human superiority lies in their thoughts, not physical strength, and the pen spreads those powerful thoughts. Therefore, the speaker believes that pen influences people more deeply and lastingly than violence ever can.

Speaking

A. In the reading text above, the speaker says that the pen is mightier than the sword. Do you agree with the speaker? Talk to your partner. Use the following expressions.

Ans 👉 I strongly believe that the pen is mightier than the sword. In my opinion, words have the power to educate people, bring peace, and make a big impact on society. I think history remembers thinkers and writers more than violent rulers. I’m sure that what we write can influence generations.

B. Look at the pictures. What is happening in each of them? Is it right or wrong? Give your opinions. Think broadly. Use the expressions from A above to start your statements.

Ans 👉 I think the people in the first picture are fighting, which is wrong. In my opinion, violence only creates more problems. I believe that the second picture shows people discussing something peacefully, which is the right way to solve issues. I strongly believe that talking and listening to each other is more powerful than fighting.

C. Some people say life is much easier in the city than in the village. Do you agree or disagree? Give your opinion.
