📘Unit 1- Number System and Binary Arithmetic Operations
A microprocessor works only with numbers in binary form. To understand how a microprocessor stores and processes information, we must first learn number systems and basic binary operations.
In Lesson 1, students study different number systems such as decimal, binary, octal, and hexadecimal. The lesson explains how each system uses different bases and how numbers can be converted from one system to another, especially between decimal and binary.
Students also learn binary arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division performed on binary digits (0 and 1). The chapter explains rules like carrying in binary addition and borrowing in binary subtraction. Concepts like 1’s complement, 2’s complement, and binary representation of negative numbers are also introduced.
This lesson helps students understand the foundation of digital electronics and microprocessor functioning, showing how all complex computer operations are ultimately built from simple binary calculations.
